Up Down Cut 3 Flute Spiral (3+3 Compression)
Product Description
Compression bits for plunge and rout applications as well as edge trimming. Up/down cut spiral router bits provide an optimum finish simultaneously to both faces; thus ideal for double-sided veneered boards and laminates. Up/down cut spirals are also referred to as compression bits (in this case 3+3 compression for 3 flutes in both directions). Chip clearance is directed inwards towards the overlapping up and down cutting flutes; an ideal tool for trimming edges where chip clearance is most proficient.
Whiteside offer 2 different types of compression spirals, the standard compression spiral as per the description above and the 'Mortise Style' compression spiral as per the following description. The difference is the tool number ending in 'M' indicating the 'Mortise Style' spiral which has a shorter up cut length.

Mortise style compression spirals are designed for proficient chip clearance when routing dado's, slots and mortises. The shorter up cut length still expels the wood chips in an upward direction for chip extraction. At a cutting depth greater than 6.35mm the downward spiral engages the top surface being cut, thus providing the optimum finish to the surface. So, up cut for chip clearance and extraction, down cut for optimum surface/edge finish.
Compatible with CNC, table mounted routers and for hand held routing.
