Recommended material thickness = 12.7mm to 31.75mm (1/2” to 1-1/4”).
The standard or reverse glue joint itself is self-aligning and provides good strength.
One tool makes both cuts and is designed for use with a table mounted router. The secret to success with this cutter is to set the cutter height so that the midpoint of the cutter aligns exactly with the mid point of the work piece edge. Only one set up is required. The midpoint of the cutter lies halfway along the upper bevel of the tooth-like projection – this is critical. Cut and test with sample pieces first and adjust till both joints fit tight and snug – this is also important else the joined pieces will not self align. The thickness of the dimensioned stock should be precisely equal and square.
Of the two timber edges to be joined, one will be routed face up and the other face down.
