Minimum material thickness for the drawer lock joint bit is 19.05mm (¾") for the drawer front and from 12.7mm to 19.05m (½" to ¾") thick for the sides. When making a box-type drawer use the same thickness material for the back as used for the front.
The Whiteside drawer lock bit makes both cuts. The cutter should be set to 7.94mm (5/16”) above the router table. A small adjustment in height might be required to ensure a tight fitting joint so first make use of samples until the height adjustment is confirmed - samples should be kept for future reference. The drawer sides are routed in vertical orientation with the inside face kept tight to the fence; the drawer front should be routed in horizontal orientation with the inner face kept face down on the router table. Both the sides and the front should be routed without changing the set cutter height; only the fence position may be adjusted, this will allow for a flush finish joint or an ‘overhang’ finish on the drawer front. These bits are designed for use with a table-mounted router only. Recommended RPM at 18000.
